A View from Sec 237, Row 14, Seat 1

 Yankee Game July 1st 2010

Yesterday was my first time at the new Yankee Stadium. I know, I’m ashamed that I didn’t get to go earlier. But I know I’ll be back many many times, because the place is like Heaven. And lucky for me, it was a good game. The Yankees lost the first two of the Mariners series, and lost the first today in the Blue Jays series. I’m very thankful for that 4-2 win yesterday. Maybe they won because of me!

I was too excited to sleep. I was too excited to stay still on the train. Hahaa, I was too excited and stupified to even take pictures of the Great Hall! My Dad and I walked around like zombies, OMG-ing at everything we saw. It was amazing. The Stadium is so beautiful – words cannot describe it.

I was a Bleacher Creature, which was an incredible experience in itself. We got in our seats early to see the guys warm up. After a little while, when I realized that it is not a dream and I can control my every move, I decided to take some pictures of the guys warming up.

CC pitched a fabulous game for the Yanks yesterday. Now I know how he prepares for his starts:

CC and Jorge, the battery of the game, have a nice catch.

The Mariner starter, Ryan Rowland-Smith, had a catch with his battery mate Josh Bard:

After a few minutes, the position players emerged from the clubhouse to do some last-minute warmups before the start of the game:

P1020792.JPGThe Mariners did the same thing.

Before we knew it, the game began.

P1020808.JPGAfter CC pitched a 1-2-3 first, Jeet led off for the Yanks. He eventually scored on a Mark Teixeira groundout to give to the Yanks a 1-0 lead.

The game went pretty fast. Here are some random shots I got:

HERE IS MY FAVORITE PIC:

After A-Rod’s dramatic 2-run homer in the 8th, we had the lead again. That meant only one thing….

                                                            MO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hearing Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” and witnessing the Great Mariano jog onto the field is just the coolest thing ever. He beasted yesterday, setting down the Mariners 1-2-3 and nailing down the save for the Yankee win.

I had the time of my life at the game yesterday. I don’t even care that much about the loss today, because yesterday still lingers in my mind :) The heroes for the thrilling victory yesterday are CC Sabathia, for 8 innings of 2-run, DOMINANT C “Cy” style baseball, Alex Rodriguez, for his SUPER CLUTCH 2-run homer in the 8th to re-give the Yankees the lead, and Michael Hirschbein. He’s the guy that made this day possible for me by giving me the tickets. I write for him at http://pinstripepartisan.com at FanVsFan.com He’s awesome.

Hey Virginia- I am happy to hear you got to see a good game… Yankee Stadium is an amazing place to be. I agree about Enter Sandman. It is so intimidating when you hear it start playing. I was at a game earlier this yr when Joba pitched to load the bases with 2 outs in the 8th. Girardi came out. We couldn’t see if he signaled for Mo or Marte. Sandman started playing, and everyone was instantly relieved. Unfortunately, Mo proceeded to walk the first guy, then give up a grand slam to Jason Kubel. But whatever. Still a really great place to be.

Virginia,
So glad that you were able to take in a game and with your dad! Let the memories linger. They will stay with you forever! My only time at the old Yankee Stadium was sitting in the bleacher section close to the guy that calls the roll call. Let’s see when I make it to the new Yankee Stadium.
Have a wonderful 4th of July!
God Bless America

Great pictures! I’m so glad you had fun at Yankee Stadium! I know how it feels like going to a ballpark. The atmosphere is absolutely incredible. Thank you for sharing your experience! I love taking butt pictures, by the way ;)

The view looked pretty neat! Even if it was of the Yankees (lol)! Congrats on your All Stars; the game is more fun to watch the more guys you have playing in it.

By the way, I think I just put together that you also write (with me) for Fanhuddle. That’s you, right? If so, that’s great! It’s like discovering I had a sister I didn’t know about (ok, not really).

So glad you finally came “home” and got to see the Stadium. And how cool is it when Mo trots in to “Enter Sandman?” It just makes you stand up and scream. Really love your pics and video. Keep up the great work!

Awesome Virginia. Just awesome. I’m glad you finally got out to a game and so happy they won it for you. I would’ve liked to have been at that game; the guy who pitched in the 7th inning for the Mariners that day (Brian Sweeney) is a fellow alumnus of my college–I’m trying to get a hold of him so I can do an interview for a blog post!

This was my first trip to the new house: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/161723-my-first-trip-to-the-new-yankee-stadium-the-experience-of-a-lifetime

..and my latest blog post, lol: http://martelli.mlblogs.com/archives/2010/07/independence-day-weekend-in-cooperstown.html

Hey Virginia! I’ve gotten back into MLBlogs, so of course I had to check back on yours, which was always a favorite of mine, yankee content or not :)
Anyways, I’m always a sucker for fan pictures at games, so I loved this entry naturally. Nice pics, and it’s awesome you were able to go to a game.
