Turning the Tides

Yanks Win Baltimore Series

After losing their first series of the season to the Angels, then dropping the first one to the Orioles, I pretty much knew the Yankees were ready to turn things around. And that they did! After losing the first game of the series in a heartbreaking 5-4 defeat, the Yanks came out swinging early in game 2. They won that one 8-3. Last night, the Yankees won 4-0. It was a great game all-around for the boys.

Pitching Analysis: Alan James Burnett toed the rubber last night, this time with Cervelli (♥) behind the plate. Since Jorge’s knee is bruised (thank you, Jeremy), Cervelli has caught 2 games in a row, maybe 3 if he plays tonight! I wondered how A.J.’s rhythm was going to be with Cervelli instead of Jorge. No worries. The two did great together. A.J. was a beeeeast, and his nasty curveball wasn’t even as “nasty” as he liked. And he still dominated! He strolled through 8 innings, shutout style, and allowed 3 hits, and just 1 walk. The walk thing is amazing. Usually A.J. is….wild….and unpredictable.

Thatta boy, A.J. ;)

Offensive Analysis: The Yankee offense last night did its job. They didn’t need to knock in a ton of runs last night, because A.J. was oh-so spectacular. In the first, Mark Teixeira doubled and later scored on an A-Rod sac fly to give the Yanks a 1-0 lead. Both the two of these guys haven’t done much yet this season, but they are still doing the little things right – situational hitting, patience, etc. It’s gonna be even more fun when teir bats come around, too!

Seriously, what is up with Robinson Cano? I mean, what is UP with that dude!?!?! HE’S A BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAST SO FAR THIS SEASON!!!!!! It’s about time….I happen to have his rookie card! Haha yes…I do. I’ll try and refrain from bragging. Cano had another superstar night at the plate. Let’s see….I don’t know if I can count all the hits he got….can I count that high? In the 4th, Robbie hit a solo homer to give the Yanks a 2-0 lead. Then, in the 6th he doubled, and scored on a Marcus Thames double. THEN in the 8th, he homered again! Another solo shot! 4-0 Yanks! That was Robinson’s 8th big fly of the season. He’s batting .407 as well, which is not too shabby to say the least. Perhaps Robbie has a shot at winning the MVP? Or being a Triple Crown Recipient? I know we Yankee fans want this, but we must be realistic. The season is young. Just 21 games have been played for the Yanks. A lot can happen in the 162 game thrill ride of the season.

Robbie’s been getting it done all over place. In the field….

….and at the plate.

Still though, I’m not going out on a limb here. Robbie is an insanely talented player. Who knows what he is capable of….

It was comforting watching the guys bounce back after losing that series in Anaheim. And it’s even more comforting know they will be back in the Bronx tonight! I miss those pinstripes! The heroes for last night’s victory are A.J. Burnett, for his outright beastness, and Robinson Cano for the same reason. Haha those were obvious choices, lolz. I guess I’ll throw Francisco Cervelli in there too…just because he did so well fillling in for Jorge and looked oh-so-irresistable doing so.

Okay… knowing me, THAT ONE was the obvious choice.

WISH ME LUCK EVERYBODY!!!! I have to take the SAT tomorrow. It really sucks. Tomorrow morning, as in early. I’m not really scared for it. The last practice we did in school I got an 1830. But I never took the whole thing in one sitting before. I’m the kind of person who can’t sit still for too long. And knowing that my boys are playing in the afternoon isn’t going to help me focus. Also, AP exams start next week, and I am absolutely terrified for those. The history on is on Friday the 7th, and my English one is next Wednesday the 12th. I’m going to buried under books for the next week or two because of all this studying crap I have to do. It’s that time of year! So if you don’t hear from me much, you know why…..school has taken over :(

I’m still going to watch the games, though. I can’t afford to miss them.

GO YANKEES!!!!

The best of luck to you Virginia! I just love how you put that little heart next to Cervelli! I think is cute!
I was watching on the big screen at the stadium the behind the scenes of the pictures for the GQ magazine that Mat Kemp did! It will be in the May issue.

Good luck with the SATs tomorrow! And the AP exams after that. Don’t worry about the Yankees. They’re home now and will be sleeping in their own beds (or whatever) and they would want you to do well – or at least it’s nice to think they would. lol.
