ALCS, Angels, BRING IT ON!!!

Yanks Swept ALDS, Now Ready For Next Step

WAHOO!!! We have conquered the Twinkies and swept them in the ALDS! I’m so proud of my Yankees. They haven’t gotten this far since 2004, a year that I am still trying to forget. But hey, this team is BEAST!!! I have all the confidence in the world that they can do it. Anyway, the Yankees beat the Twins 4-1.

Pitching Analysis: Andy Pettitte was as fabulous as can be. What else is new. Andy + postseason = Yankee win. With his win in game 3, Andy has 15 postseason wins, the most in baseball. Pettitte was great on Sunday. He allowed just 1 run, an RBI double by Mauer, in 6 and 1/3 innings of work. Andy could have gone longer, but the bullpen has been so good lately, so you can’t argue with taking Andy out. The Yankees have a killer starting rotation. CC, A.J., and Andy. When they are on, they are ON! And they are unhittable. And the bullpen has just been insanely amazing. If you think about it, pitching is what won this series for the Yanks. Yankee pitchers, give yourselves a bat on the back. Job well done to all of’ya :)

Lefty Andy Pettitte strikes out seven Twins over 6-1/3 innings.

Andy. Isn’t he just the dandiest? :)

Defensive Analysis: Derek Jeter has baseball instincts. In the 8th inning, Jeet made a fantastic play. With Punto on second, Denard Span hit a chopper to short. Jeet made a spectacular play to just get to the ball, but when his instincts took over it was just awesome. He held the ball for a bit, and then fired home, because Punto was heading for the plate! He must have thought the ball got through. So Jeet fired home, and Jorge fired to Arod at third, who tagged the diving Punto for the out. OUT! It was so cool.

... after Derek Jeter fields a ground ball then alertly throws home to Jorge Posada, who fires the ball to A-Rod.

Jeet lets the instincts take over….

Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez tags out Nick Punto at third in the 8th inning ...

….and Punto is out. Booya!

Offensive Analysis: The Yankees were trailing 1-0 heading into the 7th. It seemed like the way Pavano was pitching, the Yankees weren’t even going to be able to buy a run. I was afraid to get up because I didn’t want to jinx them, but my dinner was ready in the 7th. I got up and joined my family at the table for some delicious, homemade chicken soup. And of course, I missed it. Arod had to be a show-off-clutch-sexy-beast. He hit an opposite-field solo homer to tie the game at 1. His clutchness this series was unbelievable. Good for him. Later in the inning, Jorge Posada smashed an opposite-field solo homer, giving the Yanks a 2-1 lead! In a way, I kind of felt bad for Pavano. Wait. Hold the phone. What am I saying? He was a bust for us. I hate him. Take that back, I was laughing at him. HAHA! The Yankees came back!

Yankees catcher Jorge Posada hits what becomes the game-winning home run for the Bombers in the seventh inning.

Hip, hip….JORGE!!!

The Yanks tacked on 2 more runs later on, giving them a 4-1 lead. After they won, they celebrated. And again I became envious of Kim Jones. I WANT HER JOB!!! Running around the clubhouse and interviewing alcoholic beverage-covered Yankees? What could be better than that? Seriously, I would pay to have her job.

Jorge Posada finds reward for go-ahead home run in seventh inning is an after-ALDS shower of beer and champagne as Yankees get bubbly over earning berth to play Angels in ALCS.

Jorge begging for dear life.

From left, Alex Rodriguez and CC Sabathia are sprayed with champagne by Phil Hughes after the Yankees triumph over the Twins.

CC getting attacked from the flank by Phil Hughes. What is Arod doing?

Yankees celebrate beating the Twins in the locker room as Alex Rodriguez gets a champagne shower for his performance.

Thattaboy, Melky! Melky pours the bubbly all over Alex.

I have to wait until Friday to see my boys again? Ugh. How will I survive?! It seems like it’s been forever since I last posted. Sorry about that. These AP classes are slowly taking over my life! Aside from the amount of work, this year is going well. I like all my teachers. They are Yankee fans, and they like my blog. How cool is that? My history teacher has easy access to my blog on his computer. He made a point to show me that today after school when I went to get feedback on my essay. Mr. Sayers, thanks for being a fan!

The ALCS. My Yankees are in it. This is great. I’m going to make sure I don’t do ANYTHING to jinx them. I’ll sit in that same spot on the couch, use that same pen when I take notes, and pray for them like I always do! GO YANKEES! I’m really starting to get excited now. And I thought I was excited before. I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!

Virginia,
How cool is that that your history teacher reads your blog! Maybe you could do a combination history/Yankee post. I don”t kow what to do with myself until Thursday so I can imagine how you are! Now breathe in, breathe out.
.
I was expecting Melky pouring some milk or having some pour on him.

LOL that you were having homemade chicken soup when A-Rod hit the homer! (Sounds delicious, btw. How about posting the recipe?) And how cool that your teachers are Yankee fans who read your blog. I’d bet they’d give you an “A” for your writing. It’s really good.

My mom has a chicken soup recipe that is to DIE for. Everything is homemade, including the noodles. I tell you, one bowl when you have a cold or something, and you’re feeling better before you finish it.

The ALCS will be tough, the Angels are the one team I worry about more than any other, including Boston. I felt that a road to the World Series through the Red Sox would have been a hell of a lot easier, but if we’re going to win, we need to exorcise some demons and now is as good a time as any to start.

I don’t know what Alex has been eating this postseason, but I hope Kate Hudson keeps making it because he’s turned into a beast. We’re talking Bonds in ’02 type beast. I just hope this postseason ends for Alex ends much different than that one ended for Barroids.

Personally, I want the Angels to win. Angels vs. Yankees should be very exciting especially since both of them finished the ALDS with sweeps. Bring it on Yankees :)

Great post. The Yankees need to stop the Angels running game and counter that with the homers and a running game of their own. That’s the only way they’ll win this series.

I literally LOLed at the “I hate Pavano” part. He was such a #$#@$@ [insert more profanities here]. I can’t stand him either, good or bad, the bum.
Buuut anyway, it was a great ALDS for us Yankee fans! I’m anxious for Friday. It isn’t coming fast enough! Oy!
