It Really Is Baffling

Yanks Lose And I’m Confused

I just don’t get it. It doesn’t make sense to me. How can a team as good as the Yankees lose like that? How can the pitching and the offense be so inconsistent in a game? They looked dead yesterday. And then they tried to come alive in the 9th, but it wasn’t enough. That part reminded me of last year, and I don’t want to remember last year. The Yankees lost to the Orioles 7-3 yesterday.

Pitching Analysis: A.J. Burnett toed the rubber yesterday looking to follow up on his last start, which was a good one. He disappointed me. He gave up 6 runs in the 2nd and it took him 41 pitches to get out of that inning. 41? Insane. But what I really don’t get is that for the rest of the game, he was A.J. Burnett. You would think I am happy that he settled down, but I am not. That does not cut it. That 2nd inning was dreadful. If it was in the postseason, it could have ended our season. I will not accept that. A.J.’s inconsistency is really bothering me. Where is the A.J. I love? He was so good last week, why was he bad yesterday? I have always given A.J. the benefit of the doubt, but now I am getting a little fed up. A.J. needs to perform and help the Yankees win the World Series, because we won’t settle for anything less.

Burnett's 1-3 with a 7.67 ERA in his last five starts.

Sorry, A.J., but I am losing faith in you. Please prove me wrong and do good in your next start!

Josh Towers came in to pitch the final 2 innings, and he allowed a run. He’s cool. A pitcher who wears #12. And he has high socks. That’s pretty cool.

Defensive Analysis: The defense was pretty good yesterday. In the 1st, Cano caught a liner and fired to Jeet for an inning ending 4-6 double play, which was cool. Alex Rodriguez booted a foul pop up, and was a bit frustrated to say the least. Then Wieters hit a foul pop up, and gave Arod a chance to redeem himself. Arod made a nice over the shoulder catch, and he was happy. Jeter was, too. They are always kidding each other.

Offensive Analysis: I liked what I saw in the first, but I didn’t like anything else. The Yanks jumped out to an early lead, died, and then had a valiant effort to make up the deficit in the 9th. In the 1st, the Yanks built a run. Jeter singled and stole second, Jerry bunted him over to third, and Tex drove him in with a sac fly. I liked that. I love little ball.

Derek Jeter and the Yankees are running away with AL East.

Jeter stealing second in the 1st.

After the 1st, the offense really died. They had only a handful of chances to score, and they failed in all of them until the 9th. I don’t understand how the top offensive team can look so lost and dead at the plate.

In the 9th, the Yankee bats decided to wake up. Melky Cabrera had an RBI double, and Posada had an RBI single. That made it 7-3. Jeter struckout to end the game, and the Yankees lost to the Orioles again.

I don’t want to see this anymore:

Orioles' Brian Roberts hits 2nd inning grand slam off Yankees' starter A.J. Burnett.

I want to see this:

I know they only lost 2 in a row, but I am worried about the Yankees. They have not lost 2 in a row at home since that miserable series versus the Nationals. I just want a World Series title this year. I have waited so long, and I just love my team. I want everything to go well so I know they will win it all. Is that too much to ask for, boys? Hahaha. I love you guys, and I want you to have all the glory at the end of the baseball year. That’s all. GO YANKEES!!!

The Yanks have to beat the beatable teams. Baltimore, Toronto and so on… They will be fine though, at least till the playoffs start.

Teams are all getting tired this month, it seems. I never know what might happen next! Good luck!

I mentioned this over at JQuist, but I have no clue why we played so poorly against the Orioles, especially considering the fact we swept them last time we faced them. I’m hoping this is just a minor blip on the radar and nothing we need to be worried about. In fact, I’m sure it’s nothing we need to be worried about. We have a solid lead for 1st and barring something horrendous, we’re going to the playoffs. I guess we just have to shake this off and move on.

BTW, AJ better pull his head out of his @$$ if he wants to keep his #2 job. At this rate, I’d be more comfortable pitching Chad Gaudin after CC in the playoffs.

Confusing is a good feeling for that game. I wish AJ would get his ish together. I can’t take the stress of him being terrible and not getting bailed out! Ugh! So frustrating. At this point, I’m having doubts about him staying in the #2 slot… where is the stability?!

*We got the win, and all is right with the world again! I’m more worred about the Angels, (eventhough the thought of a sweep in Baltimore is pretty horrifying too.) We’ll see what Joba can do for us… The 3 innings garbage is a joke.

I didn’t realise how many Yankee blogs I read and comment on, till today, hmmmm… but even so I still wanted the O’s to sweep….LOL and now you guys get to play the scary Halos….:-)

Man, it’s so tough when your team starts losing and you know you’re better than that. I don’t remember what losing is like (haha) but hopefully your guys will get back on the ball and get some wins.

At least we avoided the sweep! Whew. CC was a beast and Matsui and Melky were red hot. Now it’s on to the Angels. UGH. I hate playing them, but I’m trying to have a positive attitude. GO YANKS.

As they say, you can’t win every game!! As good as the Yankees are, things happen. We all have our off days. Now the Yankees have to go out and get the Angels!

my quote is how can a team as bad as the pirates actually win a game
