A Win, And a Loss While I Was I The City

Yanks Lose 2 Out Of 3 To Rangers

Last nights game was fun, but as far as I heard, today’s game sucked. I was in Manhatten all day today, so I didn’t see any of the game. I picked a good one to miss. Yesterday we won 9-2, and today we lost 7-2.

Pitching Analysis: Yesterday Andy pitched, and he was fantastic. He is proving again and again that he is capable of starting in the postseason. He only gave up 2 runs, and worked out of trouble very well. Bruney and Coke finished out the game, both pitching well.

Andy rocks.

Today was A.J.’s turn. He struckout 12 in 6 innings and only allowed 3 hits. But one of the 3 was a 3-run homer courtesy of Ian Kinsler. I feel bad for A.J. His 10-8 record doesn’t show how good he really is. Coke was awful today. He went 2/3 of an inning and gave up 3 runs. What is up with that? I don’t know how he gave up the runs, but he shouldn’t have. Whatever. Robertson gave up a run, and Aceves pitched a scoreless inning.

A.J. Burnett's lone blemish on the afternoon is a three-run blast to Ian Kinsler in the 4th inning.

Don’t worry, A.J. I still love you.

Defensive Analysis: Last night’s defense was very good. There were, I think 4 double plays turned last night. The 3 I saw were all 5-4-3 double plays. Nothing like a good old “dp” to get a pitcher out of trouble.

Offensive Analysis: Last night, the Yankees had their hitting shoes on. Posada, who later had to exit the game, had a 3-run homer in the 1st. Jerry Hairston, the best aquisition at the trade deadline, hit a solo homer in the 4th. I went in the shower in the 6th, and when I came out the Yankees had a 9-2 lead. They just kept on getting hits in the 6th! Melky got a hit, Jeter, Swish, Tex, the hits just kept on coming.

Jerry Hairston Jr. hits a solo home run in the 4th inning that ties the game.

Jerry is adorable.

Today’s offense was all Tex. (MVP!) He went 2 for 5 with 2 RBI, the only runs for the Yankees.

Tex was the only guy who could do anything for the Yanks today.

So last night I felt happy that the Yankees evened the series up with their win. The heroes for that win are Andy Pettitte, Jorge Posada, and Jerry Hairston. But when I found out they lost today, I was like, “What? They lost a series? What is wrong with them?” I guess it happens. They will just have to start another winning streak tomorrow. As of right now, the Smelly Sox who cheat at Fenway sare just 5.5 games back. That is not a big enough lead. It needs to be bigger. A lot bigger. I won’t feel totally comfortable until we clinch because no lead is big enough when you know you smell the putrid stench of Red Sox. So, GO YANKEES!!!

Today’s game was depressing, to say the least. One of the best performances out of AJ all season (1 bad pitch) and he gets shanked in the you-know-what for it in the end.

The best the Yankees can do is shake this off and get ready to face the White Sox after they leave Boston.

Thumbs up to Andy. Thumbs half up/half down for AJ. That fourth inning stunk, but that was it. Too bad that was enough. Thumbs down to our offense, for sure. I hope this team has their stuff together by tomorrow!

AJ’s performance was so frustrating. He was brilliant – no hits – then one bad inning and it was over, because the bats were asleep. Total bummer not to win that series, but I’m hoping the Yanks will do better against the White Sox at home than they did in Chicago!
