Yankees Get “Slammed” and Lose Game

Yankees Lose Heartbreaker Due to Some Bad Luck

The Yankees did not play badly last night, it was just one of those tough games that you lose. After a 64 minute rain delay, the game finally started. That’s the 2nd Thursday in a row we’ve had a delay. Anyway, in heartbreaking fashion, the White Sox beat the Yankees 3-2.

Pitching Analysis: Andy Pettitte pitched well last night, going 6 & 1/3 innings while allowing 2 runs, only 1 of which was earned, and he struck out 8 along the way. He allowed a run in the 3rd due to a double by the rookie Beckham that scored Getz. Andy allowed another run later in the game due to an error. Overall, Andy pitched well. he has just been unlucky of late.

The “Philthies” both pitched yesterday. Hughes pitched 2 innings, and due to an error a run scored in the 7th and was charged to Andy. In the 9th, Hughes got into a 1st and 2nd jam, and the other philthy Coke was called upon. Dewayne Wise hit a ball back up the middle, and Coke just missed it. The winning run scored, and it was a CHEAP walkoff single. But a walkoff single it was.

The pitching was a plus last night even though the Yanks lost. They only allowed 8 hits. They just had bad luck . 😦

Defensive Analysis: The defense was not bad last night, it just suffered from more bad luck. Andy Pettitte allowed a man on base due to an error he made. He was fielding a ball off the ground, and slipped on the wet grass and fell down as he tried to make the tag. Then later on, Hughes came in and got the double play ball he needed. Arod fired to Cano, who we all know is one of the best at turning double plays. But AJ Pierzynski barreled into Cano, making him throw the ball crazy, allowing Thome to score. I know you are supposed to go into 2nd hard, but you are supposed to slide. Pierzynski slammed into Cano, pummeling him so hard that he couldn’t throw right. I hate that Pierzynski. He seems like a trouble maker. It’s no wonder Michael Barrett punched him! I hope the Yankees have a play at the plate, and smash him so hard they break his leg off.

Offensive Analysis: There was not much offense last night, Gavin Floyd was dominating. The umpire was awful last night. He had a ridiculously wide strike zone, and kept calling balls WAY outside for strikes. Not to take anything away from Floyd, but that is partly why he had 10 K’s last night. A lot of them were called third strike, and they were obviously balls. Damon doubled home a run in the 6th. In the 9th with 2 out, Nick Swisher hit a home run to tie the game at 2 and gave the Yankees new life. But Wise’s walkoff single (cheap!) erased that.

Swish attempts a comeback, and connects for a homer.

It was a tough loss for the Yankees. Sadly, the Red Sox won thanks to a homer by the steroid-monster Ortiz. What a disgrace. The Yankees now have a 2.5 game lead in the AL East. Hopefully, they will go out there with a vengeance tonight and win, Win, WIN!!!!! GO ON BOYS! I’M WITH YOU ALL THE WAY!!!!

I guess I just figured out how we can catch the Yanks in our division. Don’t play. We picked up a 1/2 game last night and didn’t do a thing! Yes!

We’ve got a huge series against those Royals. 4 games. A sweep would be sweet!

I’m really hoping last night was just a fluke (14 strikeouts!) and we’ll come back tonight with a vengeance and get a win. Swisher has a lot to prove against his old team, but now Shelley Duncan has joined the team, so we might see him in the lineup. Let’s go Yankees!!!!

I’m with EJ. If the Sox get Martinez I might just jump off a cliff. Okay, maybe I won’t take it to such an extreme, but I might just slam my head into a door somewhere. That would be killer.

But anyway, last night was annoying, no doubt about it. But I think we’ll give ’em a good run for their money tonight!

Virgina, the Yankees had some tough luck against the White Sox. I really hope the Yankees can sure turn things around this time and give the White Sox a taste of their own medicine when they play the next game. Keep the hopes alive!

Haha, that’s too funny because I can’t stand country music xD

I don’t want us to be in a blockbuster, this farm system is too important, though I do hope that we at least make a move! I want some more pitching depth for the rotation, or an above average reliever. But a blockbuster? Naw…

    This just in,
The Yankees have made a trade for infielder Jerry Hairston Jr. Hairston can play all 3 outfield positions as well as 3rd, 2nd and short, he’s a very nice offensive player for a bench player, this year he’s hitting .254 with 8 homers and 7 steals, last year he hit .326 with 6 homers and 15 stolen bases, from what I know his defense at every position is not great, but average. He’s 33 years old, a right handed hitter, he’s been in the bigs every year for the past 9 years… I really like this trade…

Virginia, I listened to the song, and I’m sorry, but I can’t say that I like it. Just not my kind of music, not my scene. Although if you’re interested, may I suggest a hip hop song that isn’t what you’d think hip hop would be… it’s a really nice song, it’s the beautiful, soulful side of hip hop, as opposed to the guns, hoes and moneh side of hip hop everyone’s familiar with. Look up Common – Come Close and look at the first vid.

Calm down Virginia, everything’s going to be alright. Casey Kotchman, based on numbers, doesn’t really kill the Yankees, I wouldn’t worry about him. I’d worry about Martinez, but, again, everything’s going to be alright. Unless they trade Frankie. In which case, I will need a big, big hug from you.

    Virginia,

I wouldn’t worry about Casey Kotchman going to the Red Sox, he’s not much of a factor, in fact they might let him go eventually. I’m just waiting to find out what we sent to the Reds for Junior– that is his pending nickname, btw, I’ll look into some others.

Don’t worry about Kotchman, Virginia, he doesn’t hurt us that bad, he’s not going to do too much damage to us. I can see worrying about Martinez, but not Kotchman. However, if it turns out Cervelli’s going to Cincy, I will need a handkierchief and a few, long, big hugs.

I think that MLB needs to look at that slide to break up the double play and need to change the rule. You should not be allowed to maliciously slide into the second baseman like that. But, all in all, I liked that game, it was a good game. You can’t win them all.
